Christmas Charity Drive 2019
Following the fantastic success of our Christmas Charity Drive 2018, it will return this year! This time of year, it's crucial to give back to those in need, and to help support the communities you work in. Here's how we plan to do that this year:
Every year there are children who are at risk of waking up on Christmas morning with nothing to unwrap. Children in care, with parents on low income, or unable to provide for their child. It seems heart-breaking that something that many children take for granted is not so for all.
Formerly ‘Help a Hallam Child’ working in conjunction with Hallam FM, local organisations who work with children in these groups can apply to receive the gifts we donate for the children they work with. Once again this year, our HQ is a public drop-off point for gifts, and we will also be running a competition internally to collect as many gifts as we can!

SARAS (Sheffield Area Refuge and Support) working hand in hand with Sheffield Women’s Aid.
SARAS offer a safe, supportive space for women and their children to live after leaving abusive relationships. SARAS will support women (16 years+) with or without dependent children and regardless of sexual orientation, ethnicity or nationality. If you have a disability please contact SARAS to see if they can meet your needs. They also, where possible, offer support for disabilities, and complex needs such as drug or alcohol mis-use and metal health conditions.
At any one time, these companies together support around 37 women and 36 children from the Sheffield area, who have come to them from the most terrifying situations, often arriving with nothing and desperately needing help.
Our collections will also involve items that they can give to the people they support.
Emmaus Sheffield is a unique project in South Yorkshire. Providing a home, support and work for formerly homeless men and women. Social enterprise is at the heart of the project, offering real work, training and a sense of community.
‘We don’t just give people a bed for the night; we offer a home, meaningful work and a sense of belonging. Emmaus is different because it provides a home for as long as someone needs it, in an Emmaus community. This gives people the opportunity to take stock of their lives, deal with any issues they might have, and often re-establish relationships with loved ones.’
Emmaus has a busy superstore in the heart of Sheffield with its own coffee shop. The Sheffield charity shop sells an amazing range of items to suit all tastes.
All items on sale have been kindly donated by the public - this year, we hope to contribute generously to this.

Local Care Homes
As well as all of this, we will be supporting the edlerly this year too! Emma from our AEB Team works with several care homes as part of our AEB sector based academies and we decided it would be nice to buy gifts for any residents who do not have family or visitors to brighten up their Christmas at this time of goodwill and giving. Admin Officer, Shannon, is especially passionate about this cause and has volunteered to go with Emma to take the gifts we collect and visit the residents.
We will be doing all we can to collect as many gifts and items for these amazing charities and causes, and we look forward to letting you know how we get on!
But don't forget, there are things you can do too! Click the links for each of the charities above to find out how to get involved.
