Step 4

Then send an email to enrolment@portlandtraining.co.uk stating that you have created an online account, your name and DOB. This email must be sent from the email address to which you registered your account with the SIA.

Important to know!

Do not under any circumstances start your application for a door supervision licence until you have completed steps 5-7. This can cause delays in your application process.

Step 5

Portland Training will arrange to link your personal SIA account to our business account, you will receive a text message to the mobile number we have on record asking you to log into the SIA platform.

Step 6

You need to then log into your personal online account and go to ‘My Messages’.

SIA Licence

You will see a message explaining that a company is asking to link with you. The message will contain a link to a consent page.

SIA Licence

The page will explain:

  • The information about you that the business will be able to see
  • What they will be able to do with that information
  • It will also ask you to accept or decline the linking request.

If you decline, the business will not be able to pay for your application on your behalf.

If you do not accept the request it will expire after 48 hours. (If it expires, email a new request as per step 4)

You can only be linked to one business at any given time.

Step 7

Once you have accepted the link, proceed to complete your application online. There are several pages to complete with the following headings:

  • Consent
  • Personal Information
  • Identity Information
  • Other Names
  • Address History
  • Type of License (Front Line and Door Supervision only)
  • Criminality Information
  • Mental Health
  • Declaration (Once qualifications are uploaded, time frame one Month)

You will be able to complete all of the above headings apart from the last one which is the declaration. You complete the declaration section once you have received a message from the SIA. The message will state that a qualification has been found that matches the details you have entered on your application. Your qualification will be uploaded normally a month after your course has finished.

Step 8

You then submit your application and you will receive an application reference number.

You will need this application number and supporting identification to take to the post office to complete your application. (the post office will not ask for payment as it is payable by the sia provider (portland training). If payment is requested then please contact your provider, do not make payment to the post office as payments made to the post office may not be refundable.

Step 9

Take your application number, supporting ID and photo to the post office where they will complete your application and submit this to the SIA. (If you use a passport as your ID during the process, you may not be required to visit the post office as they can verify your identity online, using the image provided. The SIA platform will tell you if this is required or not once you have finished applying)

Step 10

Once your Door Supervision qualification has been uploaded to your account and you have been to the Post Office, that is you completed, and you will then go into the ‘checks in progress’ with the SIA. They will then carry out their checks and inform you of their decision. Please keep checking your account for regular updates.

Disclaimer

Please note that all communications with the SIA will be through the SIA and the learner. Portland will pay for the learner’s application but cannot act on behalf of the learner during the application process or influence the progress of an application. The SIA will not speak to Portland directly due to data protection. The only way that contact can be made by the learner to the SIA is through the queries form on the SIA website.
