Portland Training’s Stewarding/Door supervisor course provides unemployed learners the opportunity to not only gain experience and knowledge in a variety of security related areas, but it will also equip learners with the SIA Licence which is essential to work within the security industry.
This is a 3-week course which includes L2 Award in understanding stewarding at spectator events, Emergency First Aid at Work, SIA Door Supervisor training and exams. It is expected that learners can progress to work in a range of security roles, including Door Supervisors, event security, stadium stewards, festival security and many more.
Assessment includes 4 multiple choice exams and various physical assessments.

19+yrs, unemployed and in receipt of government benefits or employed and earning less than the threshold amount.
Threshold Amounts:

Must be a full-time resident in the UK and meet other residency criteria.
Initial Assessments in English and Maths and other eligibility checks will be carried out at enrolment.
*Non-Devolved refers to all of our other delivery locations that are not in West Yorkshire or Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
This course will taught using a range of practical and theoretical units. Assessment criteria will include practical assessments, written assessments and the completion of a portfolio.
If you meet the entry requirement criteria, this course may be fully funded. Meaning you may not have to pay anything.
Portland Training may also be able to access a Learner Support Fund to offer financial support for learners who are facing financial hardship to help pay for things that are not covered in the course funding, such as travel to and from the course venue.

The Security (SIA) course is designed for people who would like to pursue a career in the security sector. The course equips learners with the skills needed to find employment in a range of security professions.

As part of this course, you will receive impartial advice and support as part of Portland Training’s ongoing Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) provision to enable you to make informed decisions on your future.
You will be assigned a designated Employment & Progression officer whos job it is to offer impartial support and guidance on your next steps. You will also receive ongoing employability training, including important training such as, interview techniques and CV writing.
We also work with a range of local employers to help our learners gain employment on completion of their course.
