Free maths courses have arrived! Do you want to rebuild your confidence with numeracy?
Often, after school, many adults neglect their numeracy skills in the acceptance that they will never need to use them again, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Numeracy underpins a large part of adult life ,both professionally and personally. This may come in the form of helping your children with their maths homework, budgeting, bills, shopping, financing, tax etc. The list is inexhaustible. Many adults struggle with numeracy, lacking confidence in their ability, which can hinder them professionally and personally.
What is Multiply?
Recently, the government introduced Multiply as part of the Skills for Life scheme. Multiply is a new government-funded initiative designed to assist adults in enhancing their numeracy skills. At Portland Training, our fantastic tutors will be delivering some of these courses with a specific focus on certain sectors and subjects. Our free maths courses are meticulously tailored towards being engaging, relevant and helpful.
Who Can do These Free Maths Courses?
The Multiply scheme is for those who are over 19 years old, and do not have a level 2 qualification in mathematics. A level 2 qualification is the equivalent of a GCSE grade C or 4.
Some of our free maths courses are designed for certain groups of people, including but not limited to:
- Parents looking to develop their confidence with numeracy so that they can help their children with maths homework
- Those working/interested in working in specific sectors
- English Speakers of other languages (ESOL) in work and looking to progress their careers
- Those who are employed and are looking to develop their numeracy in a professional context to aid career development.
However more generally, if you are over 19 years old and do not have a GCSE grade C+ in maths, you can do these courses.
Where can I do these courses?
We’re able to offer our free maths courses in South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. Hopefully we will be able to deliver these popular courses in more areas in the future, but as of right now we will be delivering from these locations.
In order to take advantage of our free maths courses you must currently be a resident of South or West Yorkshire.
