This course is aimed at those who would like to gain qualifications and experience in Fork Lift Truck driving and want to progress into employment in this area.
This course provides the learners’ knowledge of the working environment, with specific scenarios they may face when operating a Forklift Truck. Learners will gain vital skills such as writing accident reports, calculating load capacities and analysis of specific problems related to the job role.
The course offers full accredited training and testing on a counter-balance Forklift Truck that will enable the learners to achieve their FLT certificate and demonstrate their competence. On successful completion of the test, learners will receive a nationally recognised certificate in Forklift Truck Driving from the RTITB or ITSSAR (depending on location). This certificate is valid for three years.

19+yrs, unemployed, or employed and earning less than the threshold amount.
Must be a full time resident in the UK and meet other residency criteria
Initial Assessments in English and Maths and other eligibility checks will be carried out at enrolment.
This course will taught using a range of practical and theoretical units. Assessment criteria will include practical assessments, written assessments and the completion of a portfolio.
If you meet the entry requirement criteria, this course may be fully funded. Meaning you may not have to pay anything.
Portland Training may also be able to access a Learner Support Fund to offer financial support for learners who are facing financial hardship to help pay for things that are not covered in the course funding, such as travel to and from the course venue.

As part of this course, you will receive impartial advice and support as part of Portland Training’s ongoing Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) provision to enable you to make informed decisions on your future.
You will be assigned a designated Employment & Progression officer whos job it is to offer impartial support and guidance on your next steps. You will also receive ongoing employability training, including important training such as, interview techniques and CV writing.
We also work with a range of local employers to help our learners gain employment on completion of their course.
