Fast Track to Construction
Are you looking to grow your skills and begin your career in construction? Portland Training’s Government backed Skills Bootcamp for Jobseekers is designed to support people who want to work in the construction industry, providing valuable qualifications and a guaranteed interview during the course.
Course participants will learn construction health and safety, as well as practical skills such as:
- Laying Modular Paving
- Setting Out Secondary Dimensional Work Control
- Preparing and Operating Specialist Power Tools and Equipment.
All participants will be able to gain their Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment award and a forward tipping dumper qualification.
For those who are eligible, we will fund the CSCS test and card as well as an NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper ticket.
Portland Training has a commitment to providing impartial Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) for all learners to help them make informed decisions on their own future.
As part of your enrolment process, you will have access to designated IAG staff to provide you with the support needed to help you make an informed decision regarding this course, making sure this it is right for you.

Portland Training’s Skills Bootcamps for Jobseekers are available in various locations, including:
- West Yorkshire
- Sheffield
We regularly add new course locations, even if you cannot see a suitable location above, please still get in touch as we may still be able to help.
19+yrs, unemployed and in receipt of government benefits.
Must be a full-time resident in the UK and meet other residency criteria.
Must have the right to work in the UK (ID Required, if not a UK citizen a share code will be required)
Initial Assessments in English and Maths and other eligibility checks will be carried out at enrolment.
Must not have attended a previous Skills Bootcamp with us or any other provider.
This course will taught using a range of practical and theoretical units. Assessment criteria will include practical assessments, written assessments and the completion of a portfolio.
In addition, you must also pass a multiple-choice exam in order to get the Green CSCS card.
If you meet the entry requirement criteria, this course will be fully funded, meaning you may not have to pay anything.

Our Skills Bootcamps are designed for people who would like to pursue a career in any construction. The course equips learners with the skills to find employment on construction sites.

As part of this course, you will receive impartial advice and support as part of Portland Training’s ongoing Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) provision to enable you to make informed decisions on your future.
You will be assigned a designated Employment & Progression officer who’s job it is to offer impartial support and guidance on your next steps. You will also receive ongoing employability training, including important training such as, interview techniques and CV writing.
We also work with a range of local employers to help our learners gain employment on completion of their course.
