When it comes to getting your employees certified through CITB-approved courses, Portland Training is the way to go. In this blog post, we’ll outline how you can make the most of the CITB Levy with Portland Training’s expert guidance and proven track record of success.

What is the CITB Levy?

If you’re in the construction industry, you’ve probably heard of the CITB Levy. The CITB is the Construction Industry Training Board, and the levy is a charge that construction companies in the UK pay into. The money from the levy is used to fund training and development programmes for people who work in the construction industry.

The amount of CITB Levy that a company must pay is based on their payroll costs, and it is important to remember that this is a tax that cannot be reclaimable from HMRC. However, there are some ways in which you can make the most of your CITB Levy, and ensure that it is being used in a way that benefits your company.

One way to do this is to use the CITB Grant Scheme, which provides funding for training and development projects that improve productivity within construction businesses.

That’s where we come in.

NVQ and NPORS Qualifications

Here at Portland Training, we like to keep things simple.

Tell us what you need and we’ll get it sorted. Our experienced assessors will come to you and get you the qualifications you need.

There are a number of ways to make the most of the CITB levy, but one of the best is to use it to fund NVQ or NPORS qualifications. NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications) are work-based qualifications that demonstrate competence in a particular job or occupation. They’re available at different levels, from Level 1 (equivalent to GCSEs) all the way up to Level 7 (equivalent to a Masters degree). NPORS (National Plant Operator Registration Scheme) qualifications are specific to plant operators and demonstrate competence in operating plant machinery safely and efficiently.

Both NVQs and NPORS qualifications are highly regarded by employers, so if you’re looking to improve your employability or progress in your career, they’re definitely worth considering. And with the CITB levy providing funding for training, there’s never been a better time to upskill!
