Portland Training Awarded The Mayor of London’s Good Work Standard

Good work Standard

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve been recognised by the Mayor Of London as a Good work Standard Employer! We believe this recognition embodies the commitment we have to continuously trying to be the B.E.S.T we can be for our staff, learners and the wider community.

The Mayor’s Good Work Standard is creating a new benchmark for high-quality employment standards. The goal is to encourage all employers to play a role in building a fairer and more inclusive London. This means better, well-paid job opportunities for all residents of the city, offered by workplaces that genuinely care about the health and well-being of their employees.

Good Work Standard

The Mayor of London’s Good work Standard is organised into four relevant pillars that are applicable to all employers and set the benchmark for Good Work. One aspect that cuts across all four of these pillars is that a company should involve employees in decision making and manage change with positive engagement with trade unions where possible.

The Four Pillars of the Mayor of London’s Good Work Standard are:

  1. Fair pay and conditions

Pay, contracts and financial wellbeing

  1. Workplace wellbeing

Workforce dialogue, working with trade unions, health and wellbeing and work-life balance

  1. Skills and progression

Management and leadership, skills and development and in-work progression

  1. Diversity and recruitment

Equality, diversity and inclusion and recruitment practice.

The Mayor’s Good Work Standard encourages the B.E.S.T employment standards and helps employers contribute to a fairer and more inclusive economy. This means an economy that works for all and means that more people can access good jobs, which is something that we are passionate about.
