About the Role

Construction Assessor

Job Title: Construction Assessor

Responsible to: Construction Operations Manager

Location: Remote – national travel required and overnight stays

Purpose of the role:

To coach and assess learners through level 2 construction qualifications, from induction to certification on our new skills bootcamp contract. Ensure all assessment, learning, training and testing activities meet the need of the learner and employer, as well as external and internal audit requirements. Particular focus on quality assurance to maximise success rates and learner and employer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit learners in their working environment to carry out inductions, reviews, action planning, observations and assessments in Level 2 Construction Operations and Level 2 Certificate in Plant Operations.
  • Teach, learn, guide and mentor learners throughout their qualification, and embedding Maths and English.
  • Accurate and timely completion of all relevant documentation and records relating to learners training, progress and achievement.
  • Keep up to date with your specific occupational area and with the latest developments in assessment methods.
  • Ensure Learners are fully aware of their progress and where their evidence meets the standards of the qualification.
  • Implement specific training needs to assist learner’s progressions.
  • Provide on-going information, advice and guidance.
  • Pro-actively engage with employers and update them of learners progress.
  • Embed safeguarding, British values, awareness of prevent, equality and diversity and health and safety into the learners programme.
  • Maintain assessment standards to TDLB D32/D33/A1/,TAQA, Standard 9 at all times.
  • Provide support and guidance to learners as well as providing more specific support for additional learning needs and additional social needs.
  • Accurately complete learner Health and Safety documentation and report on any issues.
  • Support and maintain the quality assurance process for assessment, training and verification purposes, in line with Portland Training’s policies and all related Awarding Body procedures and guidelines.
  • Contribute to maintaining delivery, practical and knowledge based skills and identify and record occupational training provided.
  • Committed to continuous improvement – personal and organisational.
  • Increase the portfolio of the company by assisting in the marketing of all areas of the business.
  • Adhere to Portland Training’s IQA policies and procedures.
  • Maintain own caseloads at viable levels.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • D32 / 33 or A1 units
  • Recognised Teaching Qualification e.g. PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE (Desirable)
  • Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English
  • Relevant qualifications in subject area(s)
  • Experience of using e-portfolios (Desirable)
  • Occupationally competent in accordance with Awarding Body guidelines
  • Experience of delivering NVQs
  • All candidates must have access to their own vehicle with business insurance. National travel will be expected with overnight stays where necessary. Travel and food expenses are paid bi-weekly. Additional overnight bonus of £40 per night if an overnight stay is required.
